The Legend

Music score by Georgi Andreev, young Bulgarian Composer, currently Music Director of the National Folklore Ensemble “Philip Koutev”, depicts ancient melodies that still exist in the Rhodopi Mountains, the birthplace of Orpheus.

The Story

Composed adapted and mixed especially for the show it consists of 13 pieces:

1. Intro-“The Song of the Mountain”.

2. The Three Times-Dance of the young warriors- Thracian dance, performed by men and depicts combat training.

3. The Dance of the Cloth-“Rodopeya”-women dance.

4. Mixed dance-“Aegean”

5. “Memory I”-song of a young girl who fell in love for the first time.

6. Dance of the snakes- Sofia district motives

7. In the Kingdom of Shadows-dark picture, built on ancient dervish rhythm of Asia Minor, depicting the Kingdom of Death

8. “Graovsko and Sitno Sofia district horo”-the young warriors consoled their comrade, who suffers because of the loss of the woman he loves.

9. Humorist dance between two boys

10. The combat dance, combined with Latino rhythms with Bulgarian intonations, where the character is killed

11. Mourning march-Macedonian melody

12. “Into the Space”-Magic dance with balls, where the souls of the lovers are united together

13. “Memory II”-final Rodopian song, in which the heroes are united in eternity forever.

The perfomance showcases the singer Neli Andreeva (a soloist in the Bulgarian National Ensemble Philip Koutev) and the stunning gadulka player, Darinka Tzekova. Traditional Bulgarian instruments include the kaval (flute), gaida (bagpipe), gadulka (ancient violin).

Special guest appearance-Desislava Dobreva, popular Bulgarian singer.
